Oonora exists because getting dressed for someone else's big day shouldn't cost more than the day itself.

We kept running into the same problem. You get the invitation — a wedding, a christening, a black-tie dinner — and the search begins. The high street offers you something you'll see on three other guests. The designer boutiques want four hundred pounds for a dress you'll wear once. Everything in between feels like a compromise you can see from across the room.

So we built the thing we couldn't find: a small, carefully chosen collection of occasion dresses that look considered, fit properly, and sit at a price you don't have to justify to anyone.

How we choose what we sell

We don't carry hundreds of styles. We carry a handful, and each one earns its place.

Every dress is chosen for three things: how the fabric moves, how the cut holds across UK sizes 8 to 16, and whether it still looks right in photographs taken at eleven at night at the end of a long reception. If a style fails any of those, it doesn't go on the site.

When a dress does make it, we describe it properly. Fabric composition, lining, exact length from the shoulder, closure, how it fits, how to care for it. No vague adjectives standing in for information you actually need before you spend money.
